It's not every day that the an Air Force Squadron calls you up and asks if you'd like to go on an orientation flight in a T-38 Talon. It would be a pretty safe bet that many of us in aviation would most definitely say yes! This very thing happened to Mr. Destin Sandlin and he documents his experience on his hit engineering YouTube channel Smarter Every Day.

The airplane he flew in, the Northrop T-38 Talon, is a high performance, two-seat, supersonic jet used by the United States Air Force to train future fighter pilots and is also used in a lesser known capacity as an aggressor aircraft. Aggressor squadrons use a variety of different aircraft to provide dissimilar air combat training for fighter squadron around the military. In his flight Destin experiences what it's like to fly in formation, aerobatics, and what it's like to operate the flight controls. He even goes as far as to explain what he felt in the stick as he performed a loop and talks about hydraulic flight controls.
If you're an aviation enthusiast, love learning about engineering, or just want to learn something new you NEED to checkout Destin's channel as he covers topics from planting trees and servers to laminar flow and plasma.
